Budget Session 2024: The budget session of Parliament is starting from today. The budget session will begin with the address of President Draupadi Murmu. This session of Parliament will be for 10 days which will continue till February 9. This is the last budget of the current Lok Sabha. A total of eight meetings are proposed in this session lasting 10 days.
First of all today there will be the address of President Draupadi Murmu, who will address the joint session of both the Houses.
The motion of thanks on the President's address will be discussed and PM Modi will reply.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the interim budget on February 1 before the Lok Sabha elections to be held in April-May.
The government will present its interim budget on February 1. After the elections, the new government will present the full budget.
What is the government's strategy for the budget session?
Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said that the government has no legislative agenda for the budget session and its focus will be on the President's address, discussion on the motion of thanks, presentation of the interim budget, and the budget of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the opposition parties had given suggestions, since this is the last session of the current Lok Sabha, we said that we will give them an opportunity in the next session.
