He said that 'ensuring Indian citizenship in the country is our sovereign right and we will never compromise on it.' Shah said that CAA has been brought by the Modi government and it is impossible to take it back. He accused the opposition leaders of doing appeasement politics.

 

'Soon there will be BJP government in Bengal too'

Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee's statement on CAA notification. He said that 'the day is not far when there will be a BJP government in Bengal and then we will stop infiltration. If you (Mamata Banerjee) do this kind of politics on the issue of national security and promote infiltration due to appeasement politics and oppose refugees taking Indian citizenship, then people will not stay with you. Mamata Banerjee does not understand the difference between a refugee and an infiltrator.

 

 

'No provision of CAA is against the Constitution'

The Home Minister said that no provision of the Citizenship Amendment Act violates the Constitution. Shah answered the questions raised on the timing of the law

The central government has issued the notification of CAA law this week itself. This law was passed by the Parliament in December 2019. During that time, there was a lot of uproar regarding the CAA law and there was even a riot in the country's capital Delhi regarding it. However, the government had refused to withdraw the law despite strong opposition and it has now been implemented. The opposition is raising questions on the timing of the implementation of CAA and alleging that the BJP government has decided to implement CAA just a few days before the announcement of general elections to gain an advantage in the elections. On the allegations of the opposition, Amit Shah said 'All the opposition parties, Asaduddin Owaisi, Rahul Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal, Mamata Banerjee, etc. are doing politics on this. There is no question on its timing. BJP announced this in its 2019 manifesto itself and talked about giving citizenship to refugees coming from Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. The people of the country know that CAA is the law of this country and I have also said 41 times that CAA will be implemented in the country before the elections.
