The Supreme Court on Tuesday reprimanded YouTuber Ranveer Allahabadia for using obscene language for making objectionable comments regarding parents and said that one does not get a license to say anything in the name of freedom of expression.

The apex court said that his mind was full of filth, which he spewed on the show. Terming Ranveer's mentality as distorted and language as reprehensible, the court said that his language makes daughters, sisters, parents, and even society feel ashamed.

Interim relief from arrest

However, later the court granted interim relief from arrest to Ranveer with the direction to cooperate in the investigation. But at the same time ordered that Ranveer and his associates would not do any shows till further orders. He will surrender the passport and will not leave the country without the permission of the Supreme Court.

This order was given by a bench of Justice Suryakant and N. Kotishwar Singh on the demand to stop the arrest of Ranveer Allahabadia and attach the FIRs registered in different parts of the country together for hearing. Notice was also issued to Maharashtra and Assam on the petition. On the plea of receiving threats and threats to his life, the court has asked Ranveer to contact the local police of Maharashtra and Assam regarding security to participate in the investigation.

Order to cooperate in the investigation

The court has stayed Ranveer's arrest in the FIRs registered against him in Guwahati, Mumbai, and Jaipur, and has also said that no new FIR will be registered against him based on the show India's Got Talent. It has been ordered that he will cooperate in the investigation when called by the investigating officer. No lawyer will accompany him to the police station. He will submit his passport to the investigating officer of Thane police station and will not leave the country without the permission of the court.

On Monday, lawyer Dr. Abhinav Chandrachud said that he is not justifying him, but the case registered against him for spreading obscenity does not stand. The court again asked that if this language is not called obscene and indecent, then what will be called? What are the standards of obscenity and indecency?

Chandrachud said that this cannot be called obscene, but can be called intimate thoughts. But the court's displeasure remained and asked why such a person should be given relief. Chandrachud sought relief citing the decisions of Amish Devgan, Arnab Goswami, etc.

The court made important comments.

But the court said that the court gives relief when many cases are registered across the country so that the accused can defend himself in court, but there are only two FIRs against Ranveer, one in Guwahati and the other in Thane, which is a part of Mumbai and he lives there. He should go to both places and face the case. After all, why should the court attach all the cases? Anyway, both the FIRs are not the same.

Chandrachud said that an FIR has also been registered in Jaipur on Monday. Justice Suryakant said that we can understand the possibility of your arrest. Chandrachud said that Ranveer's mother is a doctor and she is also receiving threats, then the bench said that he has also embarrassed his parents.

The court expressed its displeasure.

The bench said that they know from where he copied it, but in other societies where such programs are held, full publications are taken, warnings and disclaimers are issued, which were not there here. The lawyer said that this program was restricted. It was for adults and access was only on payment, but a paid subscriber leaked a 10-second clip.

On threats to Ranveer and bad things being said about him, the court said that just like you did this for cheap popularity, maybe they are also doing the same.
