Chhath Puja: The enthusiasm for Chhath festival was shown in America, Indian Americans gathered to offer Arghya to the rising sun

Today, on the fourth day of Chhath Mahaparva, with the offering of Arghya to the rising sun, Chhath, the great festival of folk faith, has come to an end. The enthusiasm for this holy festival was seen not only in the country but also abroad.

 

Indian-American women gathered in rivers and lakes to offer arghya to the Sun God. Chhath festival was celebrated in many states across America including California, Arizona, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Texas, North Carolina, and Washington DC.

 

Bihar Jharkhand Association of North America organized Chhath

Bihar Jharkhand Association of North America (BJANA) organizes Chhath Puja across the country including Thompson Park, Monroe, New Jersey. More than 1500 members attended the event held in New Jersey. BJANA started organizing community-wide Chhath Puja five years ago.

Vandana Vatsyan, a community member from Bijana, said, “We started celebrating Chhath Puja in the US more than 5 years ago, and a large number of expatriate members join every year. Today we see over 1500 devotees celebrating. "

 

Let us tell you that Chhath Puja is considered one of the most auspicious festivals in Bihar, Jharkhand, and Eastern Uttar Pradesh. This festival is dedicated to the Sun God, who is believed by the people to sustain life on earth. It is also worshiped to seek blessings from the Sun to lead a long, healthy, prosperous life.
