Delhi School Bomb Threat: Threatening mail sent by hiding the original IP address through VPN, same ID used

Posted on 2nd May 2024 10:51 am by rohit kumar

Mails giving information about bombs being planted in schools of Delhi-NCR have been sent from abroad. Russia's Virtual Private Network (VPN) has been used in this. It is not yet known from which country the mail has been sent. Due to the complex technical process to find out, it will be clear in the next two to three days from which country the mail giving information about bombs being placed in schools has been sent, but, certainly, the mail has not been sent from India. The mail sent early on Wednesday was from the same ID.

A senior officer of the Special Cell of Delhi Police said that the accused who sent the mail had used Virtual Private Network (VPN). With this, the IP address from which the mail has been sent can be hidden. It monitors the activities of hackers and protects you from third-party and cyber criminals who steal data. Using a VPN can bypass website blocks and firewalls.

It can be understood that if you are using an Australian VPN tool while sitting in India, it creates a proxy Australian IP address against your device, protecting your original IP address. This means that no third-party website or even your internet service provider can see or track your data transactions. Delhi Police officials say that security agencies can find out the original IP address by breaking the VPN.

However, this process is quite lengthy. After receiving the news, initially, bomb and dog squads and local police staff were sent to the school. When the number of calls increased, the school was asked to be evacuated. Most of the school administration took the children out of the classroom and took them to the safe ground. Later, when their parents reached the school, the children were handed over to them. There was some difficulty in the search operation due to the presence of one team of bomb and dog squads in each district. The search operation in schools continued till late evening. Senior police officers asked all the stations in-charges to see the arrangements of schools in their respective areas. The police also helped in evacuating the children safely.

This morning there was information that bombs had been planted in some schools. All the students were taken out. Delhi Police searched those school premises. Nothing was found in any school. We are in constant touch with the police and schools.

Increased security at railway stations, bus stands , and airports

After receiving information about bombs in schools, police have increased security in crowded areas. Police are maintaining vigilance at IGI Airport, New and Old Delhi Railway Station, Kashmiri Gate and Anand Vihar Bus Stand, Dhaula Kuan, Connaught Place, Karol Bagh, Chandni Chowk, Sarojini Nagar, Lajpat Nagar.

According to the police, the way information was being sequentially received from the schools, there was apprehension that mischievous elements might be trying to divert the case. Taking extra precautions, vigil was increased in crowded places. Additional police are being deployed at various places and the suspects are being monitored. People have also been appealed to immediately inform the police if they see anything suspicious or any person nearby.
