Taking serious note of complaints of non-availability of electricity to the people of the state during the scorching heat and heatwave, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the Power Corporation to do whatever it takes to do it immediately, but there should be no unnecessary power cuts anywhere. be done.
Negligence of Power Corporation management in the matter of power supply will not be accepted. The Chief Minister had called a meeting of the Energy Department at Lok Bhavan on Monday because of complaints of non-availability of electricity as per roster in many areas.
The Chief Minister said that additional power should be arranged to maintain the power supply. He said that the Energy Department and Power Corporation should ensure that electricity is supplied according to the pre-determined roster instead of cutting unnecessary power anywhere whether it is a village or a city.
Chief Minister Yogi said that in the last five years, electricity has reached every village, town, and major in the state. We are committed to the uninterrupted power supply in the state. The houses which do not have electricity connection at present should be given connection under the Saubhagya scheme as per eligibility. He said that smart meters should be installed rapidly in the cities. The CM said that the availability of coal for power generation should be maintained continuously.
There is no shortage of coal in the state yet, but regular communication should be maintained with the Government of India to maintain the supply of coal as per the demand. He said that the network of dangling electric wires not only spoils the beauty of the cities but also causes accidents every day. In such a situation, the work of undergrounding the electric wires should be accelerated.
The problem of transformer failure or breaking of wires etc. should be resolved immediately. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that payment of bills is also necessary to maintain the power supply. Electricity consumers also have the responsibility to pay their bills on time. For this, by making a concrete action plan, the right bills should be made available to the consumers on time.
Consumers get upset due to overbilling or late billing. He was not enthusiastic about paying the bill. Instead of cutting the connection, the power companies should constantly contact and communicate with the defaulters. Apart from the collection of bills through self-help groups or BC Sakhi in villages, electricity bill collection centers should also be considered. He said that necessary steps should be taken to prevent theft of electricity so that the line loss is minimum. A one-time settlement scheme should be implemented for the defaulters.
Consideration should also be given to providing the facility of depositing a large number of bills in installments. On this occasion, Energy Minister AK Sharma, Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra, Agriculture Production Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary Energy Alok Sinha, Additional Chief Secretary Chief Minister SP Goyal, Chairman of Power Corporation M Devraj, Uttar Pradesh State Electricity Generation Corporation and Management of Transmission Corporation. Director P Guruprasad along with other senior officials was present.
Electricity is not according to the demand: With the rise in mercury, the electricity demand is increasing but there is no availability of electricity. According to sources, these days the electricity demand has reached above 23 thousand MW but the availability is less than 20 thousand MW.
Electricity is not available as per the requirement even at Rs 12 unit from the power exchange. Two thousand MW power generation units of the state are also closed due to a shortage of coal and other technical problems. In such a situation, the people of the state will have to deal with power cuts for a few hours for the time being.
It is worth mentioning that apart from 24 hours power supply in big cities and district headquarters of the state, there is a roster of 18 hours in villages, 20 in Bundelkhand, and 21.30 hours in Tehsil-Nagar Panchayat areas, but these days two-three in all areas except big cities. There is a power cut for more than an hour. Due to local faults, there is a power outage in many areas for a long time.
