China-Taiwan Tension: The tension between China and Taiwan is increasing continuously. The Chinese military last week condemned the US and Canada for sending warships through the Taiwan Strait, saying both countries' provocative actions seriously endangered peace and stability in the region. The Taiwan Strait is a 180 km wide bay that separates the island of Taiwan and continental Asia. It is one of the heaviest watersheds in the world, patrolled by both the Navy and Coast Guard ships of China and Taiwan.

US Navy destroyer USS Dewey (DDG-105) and Royal Canadian Navy frigate HMCS Winnipeg sail through the Taiwan Strait on October 15. A spokesman for the Chinese PLA Eastern Theater Command said in a statement that the Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) has dispatched its navy and air force to track and monitor the two warships throughout the developments. Senior Colonel Xi Yi insisted that Taiwan is part of China. He said the troops of the PLA Eastern Theater Command are on high alert at all times and are ready to respond to all threats and provocations.

Tensions are increasing in Taiwan. The focus on the Gulf comes after China increased political pressure and military threats against Taiwan, with almost daily incursions into Taiwan's air defense detection area.

China's statement on passing British warship

Earlier last month, the Chinese military issued a statement saying that it had warned them while tracking a British warship passing through the Taiwan Strait. After the passing of the warship, China accused Britain of having malicious behavior.

Significantly, China considers the island of Taiwan as its part. The British warship is currently part of HMS Richmond, an aircraft carrier strike group stationed in the Indo-Pacific region.

In a statement issued on the Twitter account about this ship, it has been told that it is currently going towards Vietnam. China has strongly condemned Britain for taking the warship through the sensitive waters of Taiwan. HMS made a post on the Chinese ship's Twitter account.

What is the dispute?

Tensions are rising between China and Taiwan. Taiwan has its constitution, military, and democratically elected government. Taiwan broke away from the mainland during a civil war that resulted in the Communist Party taking control in 1949. China has been treating the island as a separate province, while authorities in Taipei have consistently rejected China's proposal for one country, two systems.
