Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said on Tuesday that over Rs 30,000 crore have been sanctioned for projects aimed at cleaning the Ganga and its tributaries.
Emphasizing the importance of limited water resources, Shekhawat said that the beginning of economic development is our water resources and energy. The graph of our need for natural resources and economic development is similar. Given India's demographic, geographic vastness, limited water resources, and willingness to meet environmental challenges, we must ensure sustainable use of water and other natural resources.
The Minister said that a lot of infrastructures have been created to clean the Ganga and its tributaries. He said projects worth over Rs 30,000 crore have been approved. Shekhawat also expressed satisfaction over the transformation of the Namami Gange program into a mass movement with the cooperation of various organizations and said that remedial action is taken for a proper discussion on related issues in more than 100 districts along Ganga.
