In Rajasthan, there is a political tussle between Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot. The interim president of the party, Sonia Gandhi, has now taken over the command to reduce the ongoing tussle between the two. He has also held a meeting with Gehlot in Delhi. In this meeting, it is being said that a formula will be agreed upon.

A Congress functionary aware of the developments said it was a courtesy call between Gehlot and Sonia Gandhi. He discussed not only the politics of Rajasthan and the victory of the recent assembly polls but also the upcoming elections in Gujarat, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh. Earlier on Wednesday, CM Gehlot held a nearly three-hour-long discussion with AICC general secretaries and finalized the reshuffle and appointments.

Congress office-bearers aware of the developments said at least four aides of former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot and five ministerial posts for those close to Gehlot are likely. There are nine vacancies in the 30-member council of ministers. These posts have been lying vacant since the resignation of Pilot and his close associates in July 2020.

Gehlot said – left the decision of reshuffle in the cabinet to the high command

Ashok Gehlot on Thursday met Congress President Sonia Gandhi and said that he has left the decision on the cabinet reshuffle to the high command. Gehlot also said that he has put his views before the party leadership and whatever decision will be taken based on mutual talks, it will be acceptable to all.

Gehlot also met Priyanka Gandhi

Earlier, Ashok Gehlot held a long meeting with party general secretaries Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, KC Venugopal, and Ajay Maken in Delhi on Wednesday to discuss the expansion of the cabinet, political appointments, and the political situation in the state. Sources say that a final decision is likely to be taken soon regarding cabinet expansion and political appointments in Rajasthan.
