The death toll from the corona epidemic is increasing rapidly all over the world. This crisis, which has been going on for almost two years, has caused havoc in poor countries as well as rich countries. This deadly epidemic has not only killed people but has also ruined the economy. There have been more than 2.5 million deaths in the United States, the European Union, the UK, and Brazil. Talking about America alone, more than 740,000 people have lost their lives here, which is more than any other country.

Pandemic broke many records

The death toll, according to Johns Hopkins University, is equal to the combined population of Los Angeles and San Francisco. According to estimates from the Peace Research Institute Oslo, this is around the number of people killed in fighting between nations since 1950. Globally, the coronavirus pandemic is now the third leading cause of death after heart disease and stroke.

Virus transfer continues

Viruses have been transferred in the 22 months since the outbreak began. Now the dangerous virus is spreading to Russia, Ukraine, and other parts of Eastern Europe, especially where rumors, misinformation and mistrust in the government have stymied vaccination efforts. In Ukraine, only 17 percent of the adult population is fully vaccinated while in Armenia only 7 percent.

High-resource countries most affected

Dr. Wafa al-Sadr, director of ICAP, Columbia University's Center for Global Health, said what stands out about this pandemic is that it has affected high-resource countries the most, rather than poor countries. This is in a way the irony of the corona pandemic.
