India has started taking precautionary measures to deal with it amidst apprehensions of the resurgence of Covid infection. In this series, Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya held a meeting with drug manufacturing companies on Thursday to prepare for the management of Covid-19. Mandaviya today reviewed the status and adequacy of COVID management drugs and production capabilities with representatives of pharmaceutical companies through video conferencing so that India is prepared to handle any eventuality effectively. This meeting was organized because of the increasingly serious cases of Covid-19 in some countries.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya also lauded the pharmaceutical companies for their invaluable contribution during the Covid pandemic in the country. He said that India's pharmaceutical industry is strong, resilient, and sensitive. Due to its strength, we have supplied medicines to 150 countries along with meeting our demand during the pandemic. During this quality and reasonable price was also ensured.
Emphasis on adequate storage of medicines
Because of the COVID-19 apprehensions, he urged pharmaceutical companies to keep a close watch on the global supply chain scenario. He said that companies should closely monitor the production and availability of APIs as well as the manufacturing of drugs required for Covid management. He stressed ensuring adequate stock and availability of all medicines including Covid medicines in the supply chain at the retail level.
Started taking precautionary measures regarding Covid
During the meeting, the pharmaceutical companies assured that they would be able to maintain an adequate supply of Covid medicines. The meeting was attended by representatives of pharmaceutical companies along with senior officials of the Ministry of Health. Let us tell you that amidst the rapid increase in Covid cases in some countries, health facilities are being reviewed in all the states and union territories due to the possibility of another wave coming into the country.
RT-PCR became mandatory
Earlier, Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya informed that from January 01, 2023, the RT-PCR test has been made mandatory for passengers coming from China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Thailand. He gave this information by tweeting. Apart from this, random tests are also being done for all international passengers on their arrival in India.
The next 40 days are very important
According to sources in the Union Health Ministry, the next 40 days will be crucial for India as the country is expected to see a surge in Covid cases in mid-January. The assessment is based on an analysis of past trends in the spread of Covid in the country.
Two passengers test positive for Covid in Chennai
