The local administration had decided to keep the famous Dwarkadhish temple in Devbhoomi Dwarka district closed for devotees because of Biparjoy's possible landfall on Thursday near Jakhou port in Kutch, Gujarat.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the cyclone is expected to intensify into an extremely severe cyclonic storm on Thursday evening with maximum wind speed reaching 150 kmph. Dwarka sub-divisional magistrate and administrator of the Dwarkadhish temple trust, Partha Talsania, had said that the temple would remain closed for devotees on Thursday for the safety of the people because of the cyclone warning. However, the daily ritual priests were allowed inside.
