Kolkata Knight Riders will face Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk on Friday in IPL 2025. Ahead of the match, KKR vice-captain Venkatesh Iyer said that his team does not think much about the conditions of the game but prepares for all possible situations. Recently, KKR had to face a four-run defeat against Lucknow Super Giants in a high-scoring match at Eden Gardens. At the same time, the CSK team seems to be struggling in the current IPL.

When Venkatesh was asked whether the Chennai pitch would suit KKR spinners, especially Varun Chakraborty, he replied, 'We never look at what is a good condition for us. We prepare ourselves for good cricket conditions and that is professional sports. If a team wants to become a champion, then it has to understand that you should have a combination that can perform well in all conditions. We played very good cricket in the last match as well. We lost only by four runs which shows that it was a tie match.'

So far 30 matches have been played between Chennai and Kolkata in IPL. Out of these, Chennai has won 19 matches and Kolkata has won 10 matches. One match was inconclusive. Both the teams have come face to face 11 times in Chepauk. Out of these, Chennai has won eight and Kolkata has won three matches. Talking about the last five matches between the two, Chennai has won three and KKR has won two matches. When both the teams came face to face in 2024, CSK defeated KKR by seven wickets.
