Saudi-Pakistan Defense Agreement: Will Operation Sindoor 2.0 be more difficult for India now? What does this agreement mean? Learn everything.

Pakistan has signed a defense agreement with Saudi Arabia, which states that an attack against either country will be considered an attack against both countries. Visiting Riyadh, Pakistan's Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman signed this joint agreement.

The joint statement on the "Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement" states that this agreement further strengthens the decades-old security partnership between the two countries. This agreement could obviously impact India as well. However, the Ministry of External Affairs issued a measured statement on the agreement. Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, "We will study the impact of this agreement on India's national security as well as regional and global peace. The government is committed to protecting India's national interests."

Turmoil in Pakistan after Operation Sindoor

Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Army Chief General Asim Munir are on a diplomatic tour of Saudi Arabia, the UK, and the US. Munir has visited several countries since Operation Sindoor. The Pakistani Army Chief visited the United States in June, then again in August, less than two months later. Munir visited China in July. All these visits occurred after the military conflict with India in May. Following the defeat in Operation Sindoor, terrorist organizations are in a state of panic, while Pakistani rulers and army chiefs are wandering the globe in a state of panic.

The Importance of the Pak-Saudi Agreement for India

India has repeatedly reiterated that Operation Sindoor is not over yet and that India will take action against terrorist activities. The question then is: if India were to take action within Pakistan after a terrorist attack, would Saudi Arabia come to its aid or would it maintain a neutral stance for the sake of relations with India? Turkey and China supported Pakistan in Operation Sindoor. If the coalition of countries indirectly supporting Pakistan grows in the event of an India-Pakistan conflict, does India need to reconsider?

What Defense Experts Think About the Agreement

Lieutenant General Shankar Prasad told that India needs to be cautious about the Pak-Saudi agreement, but there's nothing to be overly concerned about. The Pak-Saudi agreement is more related to the situation in the Middle East. Defense expert Colonel Rakesh Sharma said that Operation Sindoor has caused significant economic damage to Pakistan. Pakistan's situation is such that it accepts money from anywhere. In the event of an India-Pakistan conflict, Pakistan will be unable to launch a major attack in Kashmir because Saudi Arabia has also invested there. Sharma said that only the joint statement on the Pak-Saudi agreement has been released; we are yet to learn its internal details.

Former Foreign Secretary Kanwal Sibal said that this is a serious incident. India considers it a threat to its national security. This agreement is a serious mistake by Saudi Arabia. A politically and economically fractured Pakistan is dangerous as a security provider.

However, Saudi Arabia's path will not be easy.

Although it will not be easy for Saudi Arabia to decide on any Indian action against Pakistan, Saudi Arabia may provide financial assistance to Pakistan against India. The future path is a bit complicated, but some strategic experts believe that in the changing geopolitical situation, India should increase its military strength. Saudi Arabia's military, although small in size, receives state-of-the-art weapons from the United States, China, and Russia.

India has this fear

Following the strategic mutual agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, India fears that Pakistan will use its help to strengthen its military. A government source said that this agreement could open the way for Pakistan to receive financial assistance from Saudi Arabia. Pakistan, being the only nuclear-powered country, is trying to increase its influence in Islamic countries. After this agreement, it will receive financial assistance from Saudi Arabia in the name of increasing military partnership. Pakistan will use this assistance to strengthen its military. In any case, Saudi Arabia is not in a position to provide military assistance to Pakistan in the event of war or conflict.

This is why India is concerned.

After the change of power at the center nearly 11 years ago, the Modi government launched a campaign to end Pakistan's influence in Islamic countries. This was widely successful. PM Narendra Modi received the highest honors from major Islamic countries. Pakistan was unable to unite Islamic countries, even on the decision to abolish Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. Even in the military clash between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terrorist attack, Pakistan remained virtually empty-handed when it came to support.
