New Delhi, Feb 27 (IANS) The union culture ministry Friday said that they have accepted resignation of Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar as chairman, coordination committee of the zonal cultural centres (CCZCC) as well as scrapping the panel.
A ministry statement said that the government had Feb 23 accepted the resignation of Aiyar dated May 17, 2014.
"The order stated that the government has also decided to wind up the CCZCC with effect from Dec 16, 2014 since all the recommendations made by Aiyar committee and CCZCC stand accepted and implemented/being implemented," it added.
A committee to review the functioning and performance of the seven Zonal Cultural Centres (ZCCs) was set up in 2010 while Aiyar was appointed chairman in September 2013.
