Today has become a very special day for India. Today India's completely indigenously built aircraft carrier Vikrant is entering the Indian Navy. With its entry, China's entry into Indian waters and international waters will also be curbed. China is also aware of the presence of these two. This is the reason why China is also insisting on making its navy state-of-the-art with all its might. If we talk about aircraft carriers near countries located in Asia, then only China and India have them. While China currently has three aircraft carriers, India currently has two. However, the work of the third aircraft carrier is also progressing at a brisk pace.
Concern over China's expansionist policy
Apart from being neighboring countries, India and China are also rivals. India's biggest concern is the geographical proximity of China, but this concern cannot be overcome. China's expansionist policy is also a cause of concern for India. This is the reason why India prepares its security policies keeping China in mind and moves forward with them. The presence of China in Sri Lanka is a major cause of concern for India. This is the reason why India's focus is on building aircraft carriers. Through these, not only can a long distance be monitored in the sea, but the enemy can also be given a tough answer when the time comes.
Vikrant prepared at Cochin Shipyard
Talking about Vikrant itself, this is the country's first indigenously manufactured aircraft carrier. It has been built at the Cochin Shipyard. Earlier the cost of making it was underestimated, but later its total cost came to about 3.5 billion dollars. It was launched on 12 August 2013. Since then it was being tried at various levels. Its biggest feature is that it is being included in the Navy on time.
Space for about 1500 crew members
Weighing 45 thousand tons, the length of this aircraft carrier is 860 feet. Its height is about 194 feet. It has about 14 days. It can run at a speed of 56 kmph. With this, it can cover a distance of about 15 thousand km in one go. It can accommodate 196 officers and 1449 sailors including aircrew members at a time.
Armed with many more weapons with Barak missile
It is equipped with Selex Ran-40L 3D Lband Air Surveillance Radar System, which gives instant information. It is fitted with VLS Barak 8 surface-to-air missile all-purpose Can Otobreda 76 MM, CIWS Close in Weapon System. Its specialty is that it detects short-range missiles and shoots them down in the air. Almost all state-of-the-art warships have this installed. About 30 fighter jets and helicopters can land on it. It also has a hospital, specialized cabins for women officers, two football grounds, and compartments for 23 people. The generator installed in it can give ration to about 20 lakh people.
