Another indigenous vaccine: Human trial of the country's first mRNA technology, corona vaccine approved, developed by Pune-based Genoa company

The Drug Controller General of India has approved a human trial for the country's first mRNA technology vaccine. The Ministry of Earth Science gave this information on Friday. The vaccine named HGCO19 has been developed by Genova, a Pune-based company.

Genova has developed this vaccine in collaboration with US company HDT Biotech Corporation. The vaccine has been successfully tested on animals. Antibodies have been claimed to be prepared in animals after their dose. HGCO19 can be protected for two months at a temperature of two to eight degrees Celsius.

The Pfizer and Biotech vaccines were also made on this technique.

Pfizer and Biotech vaccines have been approved in the UK. Another American company Moderna has also sought approval for the emergency use of the vaccine. Both these vaccines have been developed on technology based on messenger-RNA ie mRNA and both are also up to 95% effective.

Such vaccines use mRNA, which tells the body what kind of protein to make to fight the virus.

First time-based vaccine on mRNA technology

mRNA or messenger-RNA is a small part of the genetic code that makes proteins in our cells (cells). It can also be understood in easy language that when a virus or bacteria attacks our body, mRNA technology sends a message to our cells to make proteins to fight that virus or bacteria.

With this, our immune system gets the protein it needs and makes antibodies in our body. Its biggest advantage is that it can make vaccines more quickly than conventional vaccines. Along with this, the immunity of the body is also strengthened. This is the first time a vaccine based on mRNA technology is being created in the world.

Biggest player of India Vaccine Market

Only 60% of the vaccine sold worldwide is produced in India. India's pharma sector is worth around Rs 2.9 lakh crore. Pune-based Serum Institute of India (SII) is the world's largest vaccine manufacturer. In India, apart from Pfizer, Bharat Biotech, the Serum Institute of India (SII) has sought emergency approval for the vaccine covishield of Oxford University and AstraZeneca.
