Cyclone Montha: Cyclone Montha begins to wreak havoc, heavy rains lash Kerala and Tamil Nadu; an Orange alert is issued

Cyclone Montha has begun to make landfall, bringing heavy rain to the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy rain in the districts of Kasaragod, Kozhikode, and Kannur in Kerala. The Meteorological Department has stated that these districts may receive between 115 mm and 204 mm of rain within 24 hours. A yellow alert for rain has been issued for Wayanad, Malappuram, Palakkad, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Idukki, Kottayam, and Alappuzha. The Meteorological Department has predicted strong winds across the state.

 

 

Heavy rain and strong winds are lashing several districts in Kerala on Monday. A fisherman died when his boat capsized in the sea due to strong winds in the Alappuzha district. The deceased has been identified as Paul Devasiya, a resident of Arthunkal. Paul had gone fishing on Monday morning, but his boat capsized due to strong winds. Fellow fishermen pulled him out of the water, but he later died.

Cyclone Montha is expected to make landfall around 2:30 pm on Monday. Its impact could bring heavy rainfall to Chennai, Ranipet, Tiruvallur, and Kanchipuram. Heavy rains will also occur in Puducherry. Cyclone Montha is expected to intensify into a severe storm by the morning of October 28th. Its impact is expected to bring heavy rainfall and strong winds to Andhra Pradesh, Bengal, and Odisha, with winds expected to reach speeds of up to 110 kilometers per hour.
