Aam Aadmi Party convener and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has received major relief in the alleged liquor scam case in Delhi. The Rouse Avenue Court has acquitted all 23 accused, including Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia. The court's decision has sparked a wave of jubilation within the AAP. Meanwhile, AAP leaders are attacking the BJP, accusing the ruling party of misusing central agencies. Meanwhile, BJP leaders have reacted sharply to the acquittal in the liquor policy case.
Sudhanshu Trivedi's Statement
BJP leaders stressed that the case may face further judicial scrutiny. BJP MP and spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said, "The court has acquitted him due to lack of evidence. This is a technical issue. The CBI will take further action in this matter. The party will issue a well-planned response after studying the decision in detail. We should consider how the allegations were made if they were baseless."
Amit Malviya Takes Aim
Meanwhile, BJP leader and national in-charge of the party's IT cell, Amit Malviya, said in an X-post, "The lower court delivered the verdict in the Delhi Excise case. In the past, the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court have also issued strong and condemnatory statements in related cases. It remains to be seen how this decision holds up in the higher courts. The legal process is not yet complete."
Questions Raised About Kejriwal's Honesty
Malviya further said, "If Arvind Kejriwal was so honest, why did the Delhi government withdraw and amend the policy after irregularities came to light? Why were so many phones and SIM cards destroyed? Why was the commission increased from 6% to 12%, and the number of vendors reduced so drastically? These decisions raise serious and legitimate questions. Bribery is not a fabricated story; these issues are before the courts and the public."
Arvind Kejriwal was the mastermind of the scam: BJP MP
BJP MP Sanjay Jaiswal, upon Kejriwal's acquittal, said, "Everyone knows that these two (Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia) were the masterminds of this scam. The people of Delhi know very well that Arvind Kejriwal was the mastermind of the excise scam. Those who have been arrested will also testify. Everyone knows that these people were the masterminds of this scam."
RJD attacks the BJP
RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, upon Arvind Kejriwal's acquittal in the liquor policy case, said, "Opposition parties are constantly being falsely prosecuted for political reasons, and the central government is misusing institutions. The court has acquitted all the accused in the so-called liquor scam. The BJP's tactics and character have been exposed. We would like to see fresh elections held in Delhi so that the public can select the right issues. Not just Arvind Kejriwal, but Rahul Gandhi, Lalu Yadav, and our entire family have been victims of the BJP's political resistance since the beginning." Whether it's the IRCTC scam or the job-for-land scam, the Railways has never admitted to any scam, and the CBI has already investigated it three times. We received a clean chit everywhere, but this is the fourth time a case has been filed. We have faith in the court that justice will be done to us.
Regarding Arvind Kejriwal's acquittal in the liquor policy case, RJD MP Manoj Kumar Jha said, "How many people will apologize now? Will they apologize or not? When revenge motivates a case, this is its fate. I can confidently say that all those facing trial, including my leadership, will meet the same fate."
