The death toll in the devastating landslide that occurred in Kerala's Wayanad after heavy rains in the past few days has risen to 413, while 152 people are still missing. Relief and rescue operations continued for the ninth day on Wednesday.

Student's letter wins Army's heart
A letter written by Ryan, a class 3 student, praising the soldiers engaged in relief work in Wayanad has won the heart of the Indian Army and it has given a heart-warming reply to it through X. The Army's Southern Command has posted the child's letter and its reply.
What did the student say in his letter?
In the letter written in the school diary, the student said- 'I am Ryan. My beloved Wayanad was hit by a major landslide, causing massive destruction. I am proud and happy to see you rescuing people trapped under the debris.' The child has mentioned a video in which soldiers were seen eating biscuits to satiate their hunger while building a bridge in an area devastated by landslides. The student wrote in the letter that this scene impressed me a lot and I want to join the army one day and protect the country.
The defense force gave a heart-touching reply
In response to the letter, the army said- 'Dear Master Ryan, your touching words have touched our hearts. We aim to be a ray of hope in times of adversity and your letter confirms this. Heroes like you inspire us to give our best. We eagerly await the day when you will wear the uniform and stand with us. Together we will make our country proud. Thank you young warrior for your courage and inspiration.
