Even before the start of the 16th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023), the Delhi Capitals team suffered a major setback. The team will not be able to get the facilities of Rishabh Pant, the regular captain of the team, who was a victim of a car accident. The question of how Delhi's boat will sail without Pant is troubling the fans of the team a lot.

Delhi will not get a playoff ticket

Amidst all this, now former Indian batsman Akash Chopra has given a heartbreaking statement to the fans of Delhi. Akash believes that the Delhi Capitals team will fail to make it to the playoffs this season. According to the former batsman, the team is going to miss Rishabh Pant beyond limits in IPL 2023.

Akash selected Delhi's playing XI

Aakash Chopra has predicted the Delhi team in IPL 2023 as well as his best-playing XI. According to Akash, David Warner, and Prithvi Shaw can be seen opening the innings for Delhi.

At the same time, at number three, the team can try the in-form Mitchell Marsh and the experienced batsman Manish Pandey at number four. The former batsman said that the team can give South African batsman Riley Russo or Caribbean all-rounder Rovman Powell a chance at number five.

Akash advised keeping Sarfaraz Khan as wicketkeeper in the team in place of Pant. Regarding the bowling attack, he said that along with Kuldeep Yadav, Delhi would need three other bowlers. In such a situation, the team can show faith in Ernik Norkia, Chetan Sakaria, Mukesh Kumar, or Inshat Sharma.

Will clash with Lucknow in the first match

The Delhi Capitals team will take on the Lucknow Super Giants in their first match of IPL 2023. This match between the two teams will be played in Lucknow on April 1. Delhi's performance last season was mixed and the team won 7 out of 14 matches they played.
