diplomatic relations are very good
Chrisjanis Karins, Foreign Minister of Latvia, based in Northeastern Europe, spoke on India-Latvia relations. He said, 'Diplomatic relations between India and Latvia are very good. We have an embassy in New Delhi and the Government of India has recently decided to open an embassy in Riga. This will make bilateral relations even better. Relations between the EU and India are also growing and developing in a very positive direction.
When asked about India's economic development, Carins said, 'India's economic development is very impressive. India is moving up in the rankings. Currently, it is the fifth-largest economy. Maybe its ranking will increase further in the future. With this, it will become the third and then the second largest economy. However, carrying that economic weight with its democratic values, India has a bigger role to play in world diplomacy. It is very important that on behalf of Europe and India, we work together based on these values. India is an important partner.
