Delhi is the most unsafe city for women in the country. According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data, 9,782 crimes against women were registered in Delhi in the year 2020, which increased by 40% to 13,892 in 2021. After Delhi, Mumbai is at number two with 5,543 cases and Bengaluru with 3,127 cases.
The highest number of crimes against women were reported in Mumbai at 12.76% and in Bengaluru at 7.2%. Of the total crimes against women in 19 major cities of the country, Delhi alone recorded 32% of crimes.

According to statistics, two minor girls became victims of rape every day in Delhi in 2021. A total of 43,414 cases of crimes against women were registered in 19 major cities last year. Of these, 13,982 cases were registered in Delhi. At the same time, 136 cases of dowry death have been registered, which is 36.26% of the total deaths in 19 metros.
1,357 cases registered under POCSO Act
Last year, 2,022 cases of assault on women with intent to outrage their modesty were registered in Delhi. NCRB said 1,357 cases were registered under the POCSO Act in 2021. According to the data, 833 cases of rape of girls were registered in 2021.
