Delhi MCD Result 2025: By-elections deal blow to BJP and AAP, Congress opens its account; find out who won from where

The Bharatiya Janata Party and the Aam Aadmi Party suffered setbacks in the by-elections held in 12 wards of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). The BJP won seven of the 12 seats, while the AAP secured three. The Congress and the All India Forward Block each won one seat.

 

 

Previously, the BJP held nine of the 12 seats, and the AAP three. However, this time the BJP won only seven seats, including one it hadn't previously won.

 

 

This election proved beneficial for the Congress, as it captured the Sangam Vihar seat held by the BJP. In a setback for the AAP, it lost the seat it had won with the highest number of votes in the 2022 general elections. It came in third.

 

 

Mohammed Imran, the candidate supported by AAP MLA Ale Mohammad Iqbal, won by 4,592 votes. The BJP lost two seats due to dissatisfaction with the BJP MLAs. In Sangam Vihar, the seat fell vacant due to the resignation of BJP MLA Chandan Chaudhary from the municipal corporation. His image damaged the BJP candidate, and Congress won.

 

 

Meanwhile, the AAP candidate won in the Mundka seat because there was public dissatisfaction with BJP MLA Gajendra Daral. Similarly, the AAP won in Narayana, where the AAP had made an issue of fielding an outsider candidate.
