Due to the continuous release of water from Haryana's Hathni Kund Barrage, the Yamuna River in Delhi is assuming a monstrous form. For three days, the river has been flowing above the danger mark of 205.33 meters, and on Wednesday night, the water level reached 207.43 meters. Due to this, the entire Khadar area is flooded, and Yamuna Bazaar is flooded with water up to eight feet.
Water has also reached the Ring Road Civil Lines area, near the Delhi Secretariat, and near the Kashmiri Gate ISBT. LG and CM residences are two kilometers away from where the water has reached in Civil Lines.

One cusec measures the flow of one cubic foot of water per second, which is approximately equal to 28.317 liters per second. Officials of the Irrigation and Flood Control Department say that due to more water being released from Hathni Kund Barrage, more water is being released from Wazirabad Barrage. Therefore, the water level is rising near Loha Pul.
There is no hope of relief at the moment. As a precaution, NDRF has been deployed at various places for relief and rescue operations. Earlier, such a surge was seen in the Yamuna only in July-2023 and 1978.
