Following the Indigo crisis, the government's strict action now looms over the airline's senior officials. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued a notice to Indigo CEO Pieter Elbers, ordering him to appear before them by this evening.
The DGCA has asked Indigo to submit a detailed report on the entire matter. The report will include all the facts related to flight cancellations and delays. Pieter Elbers must reach the DGCA office with this report by Thursday evening.
DGCA Issues Order
The DGCA, while providing details of the case, said that Indigo's CEO has been ordered to report by 3 PM on Thursday. The CEO will have to attend a meeting with the DGCA along with all the senior officials from the relevant departments.
The DGCA has also sought information from Indigo regarding its current flights. This includes details such as the number of cabin crew, duty hours, flight timings, the number of flights canceled, and the amount of refunds issued.
Panel Formed for Investigation
The DGCA has also formed a panel to investigate the Indigo crisis. This four-member committee is working to ascertain the real reasons behind the flight cancellations. The committee comprises DG Sanjay Brahmane, Deputy DG Amit Gupta, Flight Operations Inspector Kapil Manglik, and Information Authority Officer Lokesh Rampal.
DGCA chief Faiz Ahmed Kidwai had stated on December 5 that this panel would also monitor Indigo's compliance with Flight Duty Time Limit (FDTL) regulations. Strict action will be taken against the airline if it is found to have violated FDTL rules.
