Delhi Stampede: Vigilance increased after the stampede, security forces deployed in the entire station premises; Crowd of passengers thronging

A day after the stampede at New Delhi railway station that claimed 18 lives, tight security has been put in place at the New Delhi railway station. Companies of security forces have been deployed across the station premises. A company of CISF, which is engaged in the security of the metro, has also been deployed for railway security.

 

The Delhi Police, along with the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP), have deployed additional personnel to control the crowd at the station. There was a huge crowd at the station on Sunday and thousands of passengers were struggling to board trains amid the heavy rush.

 

Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora also visited the New Delhi station at 12 noon on Sunday. The officer said, "We have put up barricades, intensified patrolling, and deployed quick response teams to prevent further incidents.

 

CCTV surveillance has also been increased to control the crowd and control rooms are monitoring real-time footage." He said announcements are being made to guide passengers and avoid panic situations. There was a stampede on Saturday night at around 10 pm, a crowd of passengers confused by the confusion in the train announcements ran towards platform 16 through a staircase and chaos ensued.

 

The crowd remained more or less unchanged on Sunday as well, thousands of people were still jostling for space on the platform and foot-over bridge. On the other hand, Joint Police Commissioner Vijay Singh said that eight companies of paramilitary forces have been deployed for the security of New Delhi Railway Station. A company of Metro Police of 80 jawans has been deployed. Apart from this, three inspectors and one ACP have been deployed from the Metro.

 

Separate jawans of the Railway Police and GRP have been deployed. Also, eight to 10 station heads of Railway Police have been deployed. Station heads of nearby Delhi Police have also been deployed. The Joint Police Commissioner said that one company has been deployed on each platform, foot-over bridge, and outside. There are 80 to 85 jawans in the company. Inspiring picture

The very next day of the accident, a female RPF jawan deployed for security remained on duty with a newborn child.

 

The case will be registered only after the report comes

Railway Police Deputy Commissioner KPS Malhotra said that Delhi Police has sought a report from the railway administration. If negligence is found in the report, a case will be registered. Another officer said that instructions have not been received from the police headquarters yet. Action will be taken as per the instructions received.
