The Meteorological Department (IMD) said that very heavy rains are expected in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan in the next several days. IMD said, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Bengal, Sikkim and Jharkhand are likely to receive heavy rainfall. Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Odisha may also receive heavy rains in a few days.
Some parts of Maharashtra will be under special watch
IMD Director General Mrityunjay Mohapatra said in a press conference about the severity of the weather that there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in central India and the adjoining southern peninsula.
This includes eastern Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Vidarbha and adjoining areas of Telangana and parts of Gujarat and Maharashtra. He said, we should keep an eye on the catchment areas of rivers like Godavari, Mahanadi and Krishna.
Cloudburst wreaks havoc in Himachal Pradesh.
