Veteran leader Sharad Pawar took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's remark, in which PM Modi said that he has reached politics by holding Sharad Pawar's finger. Taking a jibe, Sharad Pawar said that I did not know that it would cost me so much. NCP chief Sharad Pawar was answering questions from journalists.

The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief was asked to react to a remark by PM Modi at a press conference. He was asked that "PM Modi says he has entered politics by holding your finger."

Sharad Pawar quipped in the matter and replied, "I didn't know it would cost me so much."

In the same conversation, 81-year-old Sharad Pawar said that he did not want to take any responsibility at his age, apparently distancing himself from the race for the opposition prime ministerial candidate for the 2024 national election. "I will only help non-BJP parties to come together to prepare public opinion against the BJP," he said.

Pawar said the BJP-led government at the Center has failed to deliver on the promises made since it came to power for the first time in 2014, which included "acche din, connecting villages through the internet, toilets, electricity to every household". and providing water."

The former Union minister said the BJP was using central agencies to further its agenda to keep smaller parties out of power and drive them out of opposition-ruled states.

He said, "What the BJP is doing against its opponents is an attack on parliamentary democracy, which is a matter of grave concern. In all non-BJP-ruled states, the saffron party is trying to divide the legislators and seize power. Maharashtra is the latest example."
