Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia launched the Digiyatra facility on Thursday. Under this, entry of air passengers will be allowed based on a facial recognition system at the airport in the national capital. With the DigiTravel facility, passengers will get paperless entry at airports. Passenger data will be updated automatically based on the facial recognition system at various checkpoints including security check areas. Apart from Delhi, the Digiyatra facility was launched at Varanasi and Bengaluru airports on Thursday. To avail of the service, passengers need to register their details on the DigiYatra app using Aadhaar-based verification and a self-image capture. The next step is to scan the boarding pass and share your credentials with the airport.
DigiYatra's trial was started on August 15 at Delhi Airport
At the e-gate of the airport, the passenger will have to scan the coded boarding pass for the first time. Thereafter, the facial recognition system installed at the e-gate will validate the passenger's identity and travel document. Once this process is completed, the passenger can enter the airport through the e-gate. The passenger will have to follow the normal procedure for clearing security and boarding the aircraft. The beta version of DigiYatra app was launched on 15th August. Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) operates the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in the national capital. It is also the largest airport in the country.
DigiYatra will make the boarding process faster and seamless at the airport
DigiYatra is based on facial recognition technology and will make the boarding process faster and more seamless. In addition, DigiYatra will ensure enhanced security at the airport. The passenger data will be linked with the airline's departure control system, allowing only designated passengers to enter the terminal.
