Especially keeping in mind the age, form, past performance, and usefulness of the Big Three captains Rohit Sharma (36 years), Virat Kohli (34 years), and Cheteshwar Pujara (35 years), the time has come for brainstorming. The biggest impact of the Test Championship final defeat is going to be on Pujara and Umesh Yadav. Pujara, a pure Test batsman, managed just 932 runs in 17 Tests at an average of 32, including a century, in the 2021-23 Test Championship cycle.
Pujara did not go despite playing in England
Pujara was the only batsman in the Indian team to play at the Oval, who got a full chance to prepare for the final.
