The border dispute between Maharashtra and Karnataka is yet to subside and meanwhile, there has been a demand from some villages of the state adjoining Telangana that they should be separated. It has been told that people of 14 villages of Maharashtra adjoining Telangana have raised the demand that they should be merged with Telangana. The villages on behalf of which this demand has been raised include the names of villages like Maharajguda and Nake Wada.
Vijay, a resident of Nake Vada village, says that people here want to go with Telangana because we are getting more benefits from the Telangana government than from the Maharashtra government. The Telangana government gives a pension of up to Rs 1,000 to senior citizens here. Apart from this, a 10 kg ration and many other benefits are given. Deputy sarpanch of Nake Vada village said, "People have got many benefits from the Telangana government. I appeal to Maharashtra to provide more benefits to the people here."
The statement of Rajura Vidhansabha MLA Subhash Dhote has also come on this matter. He said that 70-80 percent of the people of 14 villages want to live in Maharashtra. Some people are in favor of joining Telangana, but the number of such people is very less. The process of giving ownership rights to agricultural land has also started here.
