Former Indian team and Mumbai Indians spinner Harbhajan Singh has stated the ongoing captaincy dispute in Mumbai Indians. This season Rohit Sharma will be seen playing for Mumbai under someone else's captaincy for the first time since 2013. The franchise has removed Rohit and appointed Hardik Pandya as the captain. Hardik was traded by Mumbai to Gujarat Titans before the IPL 2024 auction. Since then there have been talks of a possible rift between Rohit and him. Now Harbhajan has shared his views on the equation between Rohit and Hardik and expressed hope that they too can overcome their differences and do something good for the franchise.

Bhajji said in an interview, 'Only time will tell who is happy here and who is not. Mumbai Indians has been a strong and fearless team in the IPL. I am sure they would love to leave the controversies behind and find some solutions for the future. Rohit is the most successful captain in the history of IPL along with MS Dhoni. He has led MI to five titles (2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020).

Hardik, on the other hand, led GT to win the IPL in his debut season in 2022 and then took them to the final last season. Gujarat had to face defeat from Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2023. Recently at an event, when Hardik was asked whether he got a chance to discuss the change in leadership with Rohit. So the Indian all-rounder replied and said- I did not get much time to talk with Rohit because he is on tour. When he joins the team, I will talk to him.

Hardik also said that Rohit will become his guide in the upcoming season. He said- This will be no different. He will always be there to help me. Whatever this team has achieved, it has been achieved under his leadership and I just have to carry it forward. He will put his hand on my shoulders.

In the anger of the fans, he said, 'We respect the fans, but our focus is on the game and what is needed (the trophy). Fans have every right and I respect their opinion. Hardik will return to cricket action in the upcoming season of IPL. This all-rounder was injured during the ODI World Cup in October last year. Since then he has been away from cricket. On Wednesday, the video of Rohit and Hardik hugging was revealed. Both of them came in front of each other and also talked to each other.
