US President Donald Trump on Friday reacted to his post on Truth Social in which he talked about 'losing India and Russia to China. He said that he does not believe that this has happened. Responding to ANI at the White House, Trump also expressed disappointment over India buying Russian oil and defended the 50 percent tariff imposed by the US on India.
When asked who he blamed for India losing to China, the US President said, "I don't think we did that. I am very disappointed that India would buy so much oil from Russia. I have told them that. We have imposed a very high tariff on India - 50 percent, a very high tariff. As you know, I have a very good relationship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He came here a few months ago, and we also went to the Rose Garden and had a press conference." 'Looks like we lost India and Russia to China'
Earlier, a few days after India, Russia, and China came together at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation meeting in Tianjin, US President Donald Trump posted on his social media platform Truth Social, saying that the US has 'lost Russia and India to the deepest and darkest China.' He wrote, 'Looks like we have lost India and Russia to China. May they have a long and prosperous future together!'

Apart from this, on Friday itself, White House economic adviser Kevin Hassett said that US President Donald Trump and his trade team are disappointed with India's continued import of Russian crude oil, but he expressed hope for positive progress.
What is India's stand?
Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) refused to comment on US President Donald Trump's statement in which he mentioned India, Russia, and China. On the India-US trade front, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson confirmed that India is in constant touch with the US on trade issues. The US has imposed a 50 percent tariff on Indian goods, including a 25 percent penalty on Russian oil imports. The Indian government had earlier said that India's relations with any country are based on its own merit and should not be seen from the perspective of any third country.
