Vaibhav Suryavanshi unleashed his explosive prowess in the final of the 2026 Under-19 World Cup at the Harare Sports Club. In the final match against England, Vaibhav smashed a staggering 175 runs off just 80 balls. During this innings, the young Indian batsman struck 15 fours and an equal number of sixes. Thanks to this destructive innings by Vaibhav, Team India won the decisive match by 100 runs. Following this performance, one question was on the lips of every cricket enthusiast: Why is Vaibhav not getting an opportunity to make his international debut?
ICC Rule Stood in the Way
In reality, an ICC regulation was standing as a hurdle to Vaibhav’s international debut. However, those restrictions have now been lifted as of today. Vaibhav, hailing from Bihar, has now turned 15 years old. He was born on March 27, 2011. Consequently, he has now become eligible to make his international debut.
Vaibhav Turns 15
The biggest obstacle to Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s international debut was the ICC’s age policy. In 2020, the ICC formulated a rule designed to safeguard the physical and mental well-being of young athletes. According to this regulation, a player must be at least 15 years old to play international cricket. Now that Vaibhav has turned 15, the day is not far when he will be presented with his international cap. Fans, too, are eager to see Vaibhav in action in international matches.
Already Made a Splash in the IPL
Beyond domestic cricket, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has already proven his batting mettle in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Vaibhav played 7 matches in the 2025 IPL season, scoring 252 runs. During this campaign, he registered one century and one and a half centuries. Against Gujarat, Vaibhav smashed a century off just 35 balls.
