ED questioned Sonia again today: Heavy deployment of security forces outside Congress headquarters, also barricading; Sonia will go to ED office at 11 am

The ED will question Sonia Gandhi for the second time on Tuesday in the National Herald case. The Congress President will go to the ED office at 11 am to attend the inquiry. Earlier, on July 21, ED had questioned Sonia for about 3 hours.

 

Congress workers will protest across the country against the questioning of Sonia Gandhi. Senior party leaders will go to Rajghat and hold a silent protest. On Monday, the Congress High Command along with all the general secretaries, and state in-charges had made a strategy on this regarding the demonstration in the Congress office.

 

2 big updates on Sonia's questioning...

 

A large number of security forces personnel have been deployed outside the Congress headquarters. Section 144 has been imposed outside the headquarters, prohibiting demonstrations due to the ongoing Parliament session.

 

BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra has said that Congress does not have any issue. He said that the Modi government is adopting zero tolerance for corruption. No one will be spared.

 

25 questions were asked to Sonia in 3 hours

 

According to ED sources, about 25 questions have been asked by Sonia Gandhi on the first day. There were also questions like the trust associated with the National Herald, and its meeting at 10 Janpath. However, after three hours of interrogation, the officials asked him to go home because of his health.

 

Rahul is also under investigation, 40 hours of questioning have been done

 

ED has questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi 5 times in the National Herald case. They were questioned and answered for about 40 hours. Now Sonia Gandhi is being produced. This is happening for the first time that Congress President Sonia Gandhi has to appear to join the investigation.

 

What is the National Herald case?

 

The case of National Herald case was first filed by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy in 2012 August 2014, the ED took suo motu cognizance of the case and filed a money laundering case. Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Congress's Motilal Vora, Oscar Fernandez, Sam Pitroda, and Suman Dubey were made accused in the case.
