Twelve ED teams raided the locations of jailed UP's Bahubali leader Mukhtar Ansari in Delhi-Lucknow and Ghazipur. Teams reached the residence of Mukhtar Ansari and his brother BSP MP Afzal Ansari in Muhammadabad on Thursday morning. Raids have also been conducted at three close traders in Ghazipur. ED teams are also present at some locations in Delhi and Lucknow.
Jewelers, property dealers, and travel people also got raids
The ED team has conducted raids in Ghazipur's Mishrabazar, Town Hall's Sarai Gali, Rauja, and Muhammadabad. Searches were conducted at the house of jewelers Vikram Agrahari in Mishra Bazar, Mushtaq Khan, Khan Travels operator of Sarai Gali in Town Hall, and Ganesh Dutt Mishra, a property dealer in Rauza. Action continues.
CRPF team surrounded the house at 6.30 am
ED reached Mukhtar Ansari's ancestral residence in Ghazipur at 6.30 am on Thursday. The ancestral residence is in the tailor tola of Muhammadabad. It is known as the 'gate'. The ED had also brought a contingent of CRPF with it. Mukhtar Ansari's elder brother and Ghazipur MP Afzal Ansari is present inside the house. Martyrdom Day is celebrated every year on 18th August in memory of the eight martyrs who died together in Muhammadabad.
Mukhtar had reached Muhammadabad MLA Suheb Ansari to take part in the same event, but as soon as he came to know about the ED raid, he canceled his tour. ED has banned anyone from going out of the house. The CRPF personnel standing at the gate are not allowing anyone from outside to enter the house.
Traders close to the Ansari brothers are also on ED's radar
Jewelers Vikram Agrahari: These are the best jewelers in Ghazipur. His name is counted among the close of Mukhtar Ansari. He has contested the election of Ghazipur Municipality Chairman from the Quami Ekta Dal of the Ansari brothers. However, he was defeated. For the first time, ED action has been taken against them.
Property Dealer Ganesh Dutt Mishra: There are big property dealers. There is business from Ghazipur to Lucknow. It is said that this was the work of Mukhtar's property dealing. Earlier last year, his four-floor house in Ghazipur was demolished. His house in Mau has also been attached.
Travels owner Mushtaq Khan: Many buses of Mushtaq Khan run in Ghazipur by the name of Khan Travels. Their buses go from Ghazipur local to many cities. They also come close to Mukhtar. This is the first time action has been taken against them.
A money laundering case was registered against Mukhtar in Lucknow in March 2021
A money laundering case was registered against Mukhtar Ansari in March 2021 in Lucknow. It is alleged that Mukhtar had occupied government land in 2020 by preparing forged documents. Apart from this, a case is registered in Lucknow for fraudulently acquiring property and fraudulently withdrawing MLA funds. Based on these three charges, a case of money laundering was registered.
Afzal Ansari has been questioned for ten hours
In this case, the people of Mukhtar's family have been questioned. After several notices, son Abbas Ansari, Umar Ansari, and elder brother Sigbatullah Ansari have also been questioned. In May this year, Afzal Ansari was interrogated for ten hours at the regional office of Prayagraj.
