Health officials in India are keeping an eye on reports of a rise in COVID-19 cases in Singapore and Hong Kong. However, official sources on Monday claimed that the current coronavirus situation in the country is under control.
A review meeting of experts from the National Centre for Disease Control, Emergency Medical Relief Department, Disaster Management Cell, Indian Council of Medical Research, and Central Government Hospitals was held on Monday under the chairmanship of the Director General of Health Services. An official source in this regard said that the meeting concluded that the current Covid-19 situation in India is under control.
Only 257 cases in India
According to the data available till May 19, the current number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in India is 257, which is very low considering the large population of the country. Sources said that almost all of these cases are minor, which do not require hospitalization. Hospitals have been asked to monitor severe cases of influenza-like illnesses and respiratory infections.
The Union Health Ministry is vigilant and proactive in closely monitoring the situation and ensuring that appropriate measures are taken to protect public health. A new wave of COVID-19 has emerged in many parts of Asia.
