Edible Oil: Prices of edible oil reduced by Rs 10-15 a liter, Food Secretary said – prices may decrease further now

Due to the softening of prices in the international markets and the intervention of the government, the price of edible oil has come down by Rs 10-15 per liter. Food Secretary Sudhanshu Pandey said on Wednesday that except for groundnut oil, all other oil prices have come down in the last few days.

 

Last week, big brands such as Adani Wilmar, Mother Dairy, and others announced a reduction in MRP. However, its benefit will be available only in the next few days as it will take time for the new stock to reach the market.

 

Sunflower Oil Price of Rs 3 cheaper Sunflower Oil has come down from Rs 193 to Rs 190. The price of palm oil has come down from Rs 156 to Rs 152. The Consumer Ministry monitors the prices of a total of 22 essential commodities. Their data is collected from 167 markets.

 

It has pulses, rice, wheat, flour, sugar, milk, potatoes, tea leaves, onions, tomatoes, and other things. Sudhanshu Pandey said that not only the prices of edible oil but also the prices of wheat and other flours are stable in the retail market.

 

Groundnut oil price hike

 

According to consumer affairs ministry data, groundnut oil prices rose to Rs 188 on June 21 from Rs 186 a liter on June 1.

 

The price of mustard oil declined from Rs 183 to Rs 180 during this period. The price of vegetable oil is Rs 165, while the price of soya oil has come down from Rs 169.65 to Rs 167.67. The prices of edible oil and other major commodities may fall further in the coming days.
