Election Expenditure: BJP spent 340 crores in the elections of five states, Congress no less

The BJP spent Rs 340 crore in the assembly elections held in five states earlier this year. The party spent the most in UP. At the same time, Congress spent Rs 194 crore on campaigning in these states.

 

This information has been given in the report on election expenditure of both the major parties. According to the BJP's report filed with the Election Commission and made public, the party spent a total of 340 crores on campaigning in the assembly elections of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Manipur, Goa, and Punjab.

 

According to the BJP's election expenditure report, it spent the maximum amount of Rs 221 crore in UP, Rs 23 crore in Manipur, Rs 43.67 crore in Uttarakhand, over Rs 36 crore in Punjab, and Rs 19 crore in Goa.

 

Similarly, in the report filed by the Congress, it has been said that it spent Rs 194 crore in the elections and related works of the above five states. Congress and BJP have recognized parties. Parties contesting Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections are required to file their election expenditure report before the Election Commission within the stipulated time frame.
