Anil Ghanwat Exclusive Interview: Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait is adamant about continuing the agitation. They say that until the government accepts other demands including MSP, the movement will not end. Tikait has been challenged by Anil Ghanwat for debate. Anil Ghanvat is a member of the committee formed by the Supreme Court regarding the farmers' law. Anil Ghanvat says that it is not possible to make a law on MSP.
Anil Ghanvat said, 'It is not possible to make a law on MSP. If the price of all the crops of the country is fixed legally, but if the traders do not see the profit in it, then the crop will not be bought. Then the farmer will go to the government. The government does not have enough money to buy any crop and keep it.
He further said, 'The second thing is that there is a stock of 110 lakh tonnes of wheat and rice. About two lakh crore rupees are trapped. The government does not have godowns to stock. The grain is getting wasted. Foodgrains do not reach needy people. Government figures say that 46 percent of the food grains go to waste. This grain does not reach the customers. If this system continues like this, then a lot of money from the country will get stuck in it. This is possible only when there is some economic reform in the country.
Will farmers' income double by 2022?
The Modi government had resolved to double the income of farmers by 2022. Will this goal be achieved now? In response to this question, Anil Ghanvat said, absolutely not. Can this resolution not be fulfilled even by 2022? If similar laws continue in the country, similar agricultural policies continue in the country, then the income of farmers can never be doubled. Right now the government is working to cut the income of farmers by half.
