G20 Meeting: First meeting of G-20 begins, brainstorming on financial inclusion, Mamta said – Bengal's GDP increased manifold

The first meeting of the G-20 under the chairmanship of India began in Kolkata today. Representatives of different countries are brainstorming about the Global Partnership on Financial Inclusion (GPFI) in this meeting which will continue till January 11. West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee also addressed the meeting on the first day. He said that we are giving a human dimension to development in Bengal.

 

Many representatives of the member countries of the organization have come to Kolkata for the Kolkata meeting of GPFI. The meeting is being held at the Vishwa Bangla Convention Center in Newtown, Kolkata.

 

 

1.20 crore jobs have been created: Mamta Banerjee

Addressing the meeting, CM Mamata Banerjee said that Bengal believes in giving human form to development. His government has created 1.20 crore jobs. The GDP of Bengal has increased manifold. He said that despite differences in religion, caste, and language, the people of Bengal are united. Development happened in Bengal because we promoted women, farmers, and medium and small-scale industries.

 

Kolkata, known as the City of Joy, was decorated for the meeting. To welcome the guests, special flexes and posters of G-20 were put up from the airport to the venue. From Kolkata's Victoria Memorial to the Indian Museum, Howrah Bridge, and Thakurbari, all major places of interest have been specially decorated. Foreign guests will be given a tour of it.

 

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, in this meeting on partnership on financial inclusion, improving the infrastructure of the financial system of the member countries, use of new technologies, easing fund transfer, increasing financial literacy and digital financial literacy and digital among the member countries. Important issues like bridging the gap will be discussed.

 

Apart from representatives of many countries associated with G-20, representatives of the International Monetary Fund, Ministry of Finance, NABARD, and various banks and financial institutions will also participate in the meeting on GPFI. Let us tell you that India has got the chairmanship of this organization only this year. During this hundreds of such meetings are going to be organized in different parts of the country throughout the year. Under its leadership, India is trying hard to give new dimensions to this organization and to take it to a new high level.
