In the next few months, India is going to become the biggest medical tourism hub on the world map. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Modi, the Union Health Ministry has prepared a complete draft of medical tourism. Under the Medical Value Travel Plan, 61 countries of the world have been selected so that the patients there can come to India and get the best medical facilities. Apart from this, preparations have also been made to provide all the facilities to the patients coming from different countries of the world with the single window concept. Last month in Dharamsala, top officials of the Union Health Ministry shared the complete draft plan for medical tourism.
Medical value travel plan ready
All preparations have been made under the 'Heal in India' program to promote medical tourism. According to sources in the Union Health Ministry, under the Medical Value Travel Plan, Prime Minister Modi's dream project is to be taken forward in the country. The Medical Value Travel Plan has been prepared to keep in mind many aspects of this entire Medical Tourism Draft. Sources say that the Union Health Ministry has selected hospitals in different states of the country. Where patients coming from different countries of the world will be treated. At present, as per the initial plan, major hospitals in 17 cities across 12 states have been shortlisted to promote medical tourism. In which a proposal has been made to include major medical institutions of Delhi, Gujarat, Karnataka, Haryana, Kerala, Maharashtra, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, and Assam.
According to sources in the Union Health Ministry, 61 countries of the world have been planned to be kept in the target list under the Medical Value Plan. This is a country where the treatment of patients is very expensive. According to sources, 11 countries of Europe have been included in the 61 countries that have been proposed to be included in this list. Apart from this, America, Australia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Armenia have been included. Apart from this, 8 countries from Africa, 8 countries from the Gulf, and 19 countries from Latin America, apart from countries of South East Asia and East-West Asia have been included to promote medical tourism. According to sources in the Union Health Ministry, there are many reasons for providing treatment to these countries under medical tourism. The first reason is that there is a very long waiting for treatment in these countries. Apart from this, the treatment there is also expensive. The third and most important reason is that India's air connectivity with these countries is very good and easy.
553605 Medical Visa issued in 2019 and 2020
The Union Health Ministry has planned to divide medical tourism into three important areas under the Heal India program. This includes modern medical treatment and traditional medical therapy including wellness and rejuvenation. According to the data of the Union Health Ministry, India is still receiving a maximum number of patients from SAARC countries in terms of medical tourism. Data from the Union Health Ministry shows that 553605 medical visas were issued in 2019 and 2020. It is estimated that this number is going to increase manifold under the Heal India program, but there is also going to be a big boom in the medical sector in terms of medical tourism. Statistics show that by 2020, there has been medical tourism of about fifty thousand crores. Under the new policy and schemes, a target is to be set to reach one lakh crore by 2026.
The officials of the Union Health Ministry have prepared complete data on the cost and treatment of different diseases in different countries of the world. According to a draft of data prepared by the Union Health Ministry, India offers 65 to 95 percent cheaper treatment than other countries of the world. Heart valve replacement in India is 97% cheaper than in the US. Whereas bypass surgery is 96% cheaper. Apart from this, hip replacement is 96% cheaper. The cost of knee replacement is also 88% less. In the treatment of the spine, 94% cheaper treatment is available here than in India and America. Under the Heal India program, the Ministry of Health has compared the treatment available in different countries of the world with India. In which the cheapest treatment is available in India only.
Turkey will give a 20% discount on airline
The concept of the Single Window Concept has been prepared in the Union Health Ministry for the treatment available to patients coming from all over the world. Presenting this entire project at the conference held in Dharamsala, the officials of the Union Health Ministry said that with the single window concept, it will not only be easier to treat patients in India, but better treatment will also be available in less time. The best MVT in the world was also considered to further facilitate the launch of the Medical Travel Value Plan (MVT) in your home country. Sources in the Union Health Ministry said that in terms of medical tourism in Japan, doctors from countries whose patients come here for treatment are also included in it. This is being done to better understand the colloquial language of the patients. Turkey has offered a 20% airline discount for arriving patients. Whereas the UAE has prepared large setups like Medicity next to the airport.
Malaysia has prepared the best MVT portal to promote medical tourism so that patients do not face any kind of inconvenience in getting treatment. A senior official of the Union Health Ministry says that only by understanding the best MBT plan for medical tourism in the world, India will also provide better facilities than them and will also provide the world's cheapest treatment. Under this plan, a draft has also been prepared to start a single window concept for patients from all over the world in India.
The Union Health Ministry has also proposed to prepare a governing body and executive board under the Medical Value Travel Plan. Apart from the Union Health Secretary, it has been proposed to include the Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Secretary, Department of AYUSH, Secretary, Civil Aviation, and Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs. Under the Heal India program, there is no dearth of any method to provide better treatment to patients all over the world, so it has been recommended to set up a governing body as well as an executive board. In which top officials of different departments, departments, and major medical institutions of the country have been included.
