
North Korea on Monday accused the US of violating its airspace with reconnaissance planes and threatened that such planes could be shot down. According to North Korea's state news agency KCNA, a spokesman for the North Korean Defense Ministry said Said that America's provocative military action could lead to a nuclear war in the Korean Peninsula.
The US has escalated tensions on the peninsula by sending a nuclear submarine along with reconnaissance aircraft and drones. While the South Korean army said that the allegation of violation of North Korea's air border is not true. American reconnaissance aircraft fly regularly around the peninsula.
On the other hand, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol said that there is a need for the international community to pay attention to North Korea's nuclear weapons program. Yoon will attend a NATO summit in Lithuania this week and seek cooperation from members of the military alliance on North Korea's nuclear and missile threats.
