In the last 24 hours on Wednesday, the country received 12.2 mm of rain, which is 47% more than the normal rainfall in a day. This is also the highest single-day rain in this season.
Heavy rain has occurred in many areas of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, and Maharashtra for two days. Due to this, there have been accidents due to floods and landslides in many places in the hill states. On Wednesday, 5 people were killed, while 5 people are missing due to cloudbursts, floods, and landslides in Kullu and Shimla of Himachal. At the same time, 2 died in Bundi, 2 in Baran, and one in Bharatpur due to lightning in Rajasthan. There is an alert in many districts here.
Heavy rain in Madhya Pradesh
It has been raining in Bhopal since Thursday morning. On Thursday, there is a possibility of rain in Indore, Jabalpur, and Ujjain as well. It is raining heavily due to the formation of a low-pressure area in the middle of MP. In Gwalior-Chambal on Wednesday, lightning fell at many places amidst the heat, humidity, and then rain. In this 8 people died and 4 people were seriously injured. Most of the deaths occurred in Sheopur. In Chhatarpur also, three including mother and son lost their lives.

Red alert in many areas of Maharashtra
Heavy rains have continued in most parts of Mumbai, Thane, and Navi Mumbai since Wednesday evening. From June 1, the total rainfall of the season was recorded at 958 mm. Which is 43% of the total rainfall of 2,205 mm. The landslide occurred after heavy rain overnight tonight near Pratapgarh Fort in Satara district. At the same time, waterlogging was seen in the areas of Dadar and Sion.
Incidents of waterlogging and landslides are occurring due to heavy rains in the Konkan and western parts of Maharashtra. 17 teams of NDRF have been deployed here to deal with emergencies. Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg areas are on red alert till July 9. Pune, Kolhapur, and Satara are on red alert till July 8, while Mumbai and Thane are on orange alert till July 10. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has directed the officials to take the affected people to a safer place.
Landslide in Panjkal village of Karnataka
Three people died in a landslide in Karnataka's Dakshina Kannada district. The landslide occurred in Panjkal village after heavy rains, police said. One died on the spot. Three people were rescued. Of these, 2 died during treatment. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for the districts of Coastal Karnataka. Due to this, all the schools and colleges here have been closed.
We will have to wait for rain in Uttar Pradesh
Monsoon has slowed down in UP. In the last 24 hours, only Jhansi, Meerut and Varanasi have received drizzle. People will have to wait for three to four more days for a good rain. Humidity and heat will increase. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain on July 9-10.
Meteorological Center scientist JP Gupta said that the monsoon is passing through Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Orissa. Due to this, it is not raining in UP. The moist air coming from the Bay of Bengal is not able to enter UP. This situation may continue till July 10.
Heavy rain warning in Himachal and Uttarakhand
Many areas were flooded in Manikaran of Kullu. The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rains in the next 24 hours at some places in Himachal and Uttarakhand. The Malana Project in Kullu has suffered. Here 25-30 people got trapped in the flood and were rescued. Badrinath, Kedarnath Yatra had to be stopped after landslides in Uttarakhand. According to the Meteorological Center, there is a possibility of heavy rain with thunderstorms in the Haridwar, Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Nainital, and Almora districts.
The low-pressure area in Gujarat, Orange alert in Mumbai
The Meteorological Department said a low-pressure area has formed near Kutch in Gujarat. A cyclonic circulation is also forming near Odisha, a dense circle of clouds is forming near Punjab in the north. It is raining heavily. An orange alert has been issued in Mumbai for 4 days. The situation is worse in many districts including Mumbai of Maharashtra. Bridge submerged in Palghar, and 12 villages were submerged in floods.
The old bridge breaks on the Nepal border
