Around 16,000 Indian medical students returning from Ukraine after the Russian attack are worried about their further studies. There is relief news for these students. Their studies should not be affected, so preparations are being made to get the medical students returning from there to get admission in colleges of India. For this, the central government is considering changes in the Foreign Medical Graduate Licensing Regulation (FMGL) Act. Sources in the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said that it is possible that an important meeting will be held on this issue on Friday.
A letter is being written by the Ministry of Health to the National Medical Commission (NMC), in which it will be said that changes should be made in the FMGL Regulation Act-2021 so that students coming from outside can get admission. Till now, students studying from foreign medical colleges have to do training and internship outside India except for the entire duration of the course. In Ukraine MBBS is done in 6 years, then there is the internship for 2 years. In such a situation, if education is disrupted, the future of thousands of children will be in danger.
How will the admission route for medical students who have returned from Ukraine be cleared?
A health ministry official said that for admission to any medical college in India, one has to clear NEET in the same year, while medical colleges outside India can take admission anytime within three years of passing NEET. Most of the medical students coming to the country from abroad are MBBS students.
Know what are the options with the students who returned from Ukraine

The infrastructure in Ukraine has been devastated to such an extent that it is not possible to conduct online education.
About 25 thousand students who have returned from China and Ukraine can get the benefit of changes in the FMGL Act.
In 2014, two colleges came to the war zone area. Then some children from here had taken transfer to Russia and some to Ukraine.
