Dense to very dense fog forecast in these states
Dense to very dense fog and cold wave conditions are likely to continue over the plains of northwest India during the next five days, the Indian Meteorological Department said on Sunday. There is a possibility of dense fog in the night and morning in many areas of North India including Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. Above-normal minimum temperatures are likely over many parts of Northeast India and parts of Northwest India.
In the capital Delhi, the minimum temperature came down by 4.7 degrees Celsius on Sunday as compared to the previous day. Because of this, there was a chill in the morning on the first day of the new year, but due to good sunshine during the day, the maximum temperature reached one degree Celsius above normal. Because of this, the weather was hot in the afternoon.
Severe cold in UP too
It is also getting cold in many parts of UP. According to the Meteorological Department, the cold weather will continue in UP for the next few days. The Meteorological Department has also issued an alert regarding cold waves and fog.
Yellow alert issued in Punjab
Bathinda was the coldest in Punjab on Sunday. The minimum temperature of the night was recorded here at 1.6 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for dense fog, increasing cold waves, and increasing chill in Punjab for the next five days.
