Assembly elections are going to be held in West Bengal in 2026 and the political temperature has already risen regarding this. Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition in Bengal Suvendu Adhikari has given a controversial statement, which has come into the headlines. Recently, he has once again made a scathing statement about Muslims.
Suvendu Adhikari said that after the formation of the BJP government, Muslim MLAs will be 'physically thrown out of the assembly'. After this statement, Adhikari, TMC has expressed its reaction and has strongly objected to it.
Described TMC as another form of Muslim League
Former BJP state president Suvendu Adhikari was suspended from the Assembly on February 17 and he has now been suspended for the entire budget session.
Attacking the Mamata government of the state, he said that this government was running a communal administration and he also termed it as another form of Muslim League. He said the people of Bengal will overthrow this government this time.
TMC reacts
After Suvendu Adhikari's controversial statement, Mamata Banerjee's party Trinamool Congress strongly objected to his speech and called it 'hateful'. Not only this, but TMC has also raised questions about the mental condition of Suvendu Adhikari.
Party spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said, "No elected representative should use such language against his simple MLAs. There can be debates and arguments in Parliament, but targeting MLAs of a particular community by raising the issue of religion is against the principles of the Constitution."
Suvendu has given such statements earlier too.
This is not the first time that Suvendu Adhikari has made such a statement. Even after the weak performance of BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, he had given such a statement, which had spread discomfort in his party. He rejected the party's 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' slogan and said that 'Jo Hamare Saath, Hum Unke Saath'.
