Australia defeated South Africa on Thursday to reach the final of the ODI World Cup 2023. Now on November 19, Australia will face India at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The Australian team is a five-time champion and the Indian team is a two-time champion. When these two teams meet in Ahmedabad, the match will be interesting. The prices of hotels in Ahmedabad have once again increased for this match.
Earlier, this kind of atmosphere was created in Ahmedabad for India and Pakistan on 14 October. A large number of fans had reached Ahmedabad to watch this match and the hotel fares were skyrocketing. Now there is going to be a gathering of fans in Ahmedabad for the final. Indian fans want to see their team win.
The situation worsened as India defeated New Zealand in the semi-final match played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and secured their place in the final. Hotel prices started touching in Ahmedabad. Fans were hoping that they would get tickets easily, but that is not happening. Some fans had even booked tickets after the announcement of the tournament schedule. At that time it was not even decided whether Team India would reach the final or not. At the same time, some fans made plans for Ahmedabad after BCCI released the tickets for the final. However, it has become a tough challenge for them to stay in Ahmedabad as the rent of some good hotel rooms has increased from Rs 24,000 per night to Rs 2,15,000.
The nightly rent for a normal hotel room has reached Rs 10,000. The price of four and five-star stars has reached above Rs 1 lakh. A similar situation was seen before the match between India and Pakistan in Ahmedabad on October 14 when hotel room rents and ticket prices had increased. With the same eagerness with which hotels were searched on some big travel hotel booking platforms before the India-Pakistan match, fans are now looking for a place to stay before the final.
Flight prices for the final match have also seen an increase. According to Google Flights data, round-trip flight tickets to Ahmedabad have seen a price increase of 200% to 300%. On November 18, i.e. the eve of the World Cup final, flight tickets from Delhi to Ahmedabad cost more than Rs 15,000. It has become a difficult challenge for fans to book accommodation and flight tickets. Due to the World Cup final, fans are facing increased flight costs and exorbitant hotel tariffs.
The last batch of tickets for the final match went live on 13 November and were sold out within minutes. The cheapest ticket for the match was Rs 10,000. E-ticket printouts have been made mandatory from stadium counters a few days before the final. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said that fans can collect their tickets from dedicated counters. India entered the World Cup final by defeating New Zealand by 70 runs in the semi-final played at Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday. Ahmedabad has a seating capacity of about 1 lakh 30 thousand fans and the stadium is likely to be fully packed for the final.
