The fifth and last match of the five-match Test series between India and England is being played in Dharamshala from today. This match is very special for India's Ravichandran Ashwin and England's Jonny Bairstow. This is the 100th test match for both. England had announced the playing-11 on Wednesday itself and included Bairstow. At the same time, Indian captain Rohit Sharma announced the playing 11 at the time of the toss today and as expected, Ashwin has come to play. A special record has been created with both Ashwin and Bairstow appearing together in their 100th Test in the same match. Both have achieved special achievements.

This happened for the fourth time in Test history

This is the fourth time that two or more players are playing their 100th match together. The first time this happened was when former England captains Michael Atherton and Alec Stewart achieved the historic feat against West Indies at Old Trafford in 2000. At the same time, all three great players, Jacques Kallis of South Africa, Shaun Pollock, and Stephen Fleming of New Zealand, played their 100th Test match together. All three were part of the South Africa vs New Zealand match at Centurion in 2006.

For the second time, the 100th Test of two players from the opposing team together

In the 2013 England vs Australia Ashes match in Perth, former England captain Alastair Cook and former Australia captain Michael Clarke played their 100th Test match together. Ashwin and Bairstow are representing their respective teams in the fifth and final Test against India vs England on Thursday and have come fourth in the list. However, this is only the second time after Cook-Clark that two players from opposing teams are playing their 100th Test in the same match.

Saudi and Williamson will also create a history

Just a day after the start of the India-England match, i.e. from Friday, New Zealand captain Tim Southee and former captain Kane Williamson will play their 100th Test together. Both will achieve a special achievement as soon as they become a part of the second Test against Australia starting from March 8 in Christchurch and will come fifth in the list in terms of two or more players achieving the feat of playing their 100th Test in the same match.

India has a chance to do this after 112 years

Team India has a chance to become the first team in the last 112 years to win the remaining four Tests of the series after losing the first Test. England won the first Test in Hyderabad by 28 runs. After this, India made a strong comeback and won the second Test in Visakhapatnam by 106 runs, the third Test in Rajkot by 434 runs, and then the fourth Test in Ranchi by five wickets. India won its 17th consecutive Test series on home soil, which is a record. This winning streak has continued from 22 February 2013 till now. India has won the Test series for the seventh time after making a comeback after being 0-1 down in the series. This is England's first Test series defeat after the arrival of captain Stokes and catcher Brendon McCullum.
